Where did the wilderness go?

Where did the wilderness go?

Generations ago our ancestors could walk out of their dwellings and in moments be surrounded by open expansive wilderness teeming with life.  I wish I were able to go back and visit the lands of my kin before generations exploited our natural home.  Today encounters with the “wild” occur through the screen of a television or from the window of an automobile. These contaminated experiences filled with television commercials, roadways, visitor centers and gas stations provide little resemblance of the majesty that truly is nature. Considering society’s path, where will future generations find nature? Will there be any left? Fortunately there are many people doing work to preserve, conserve and protect our natural home around the globe. Larkspur Conservation is working here in Middle Tennessee to help save precious land from development.  Our intention is to be faithful environmental stewards while helping people at the end of life. Using natural burial as a tool, we create a cemetery that closely resembles a nature preserve.  A conservation easement will further protects this sacred land and returns it to its native form as we honor life. For those who have gone before, those who are present now and those who will someday be…we protect, we conserve, we remember.
